YIMBY of NoVA

Yes In My Back Yard.

We are proponents of changing exclusionary zoning rules to still exclude things we do not like but allow the things we do like.

No back yard? No problem.

"Your Backyard" doesn't have to be your back yard. That's why we have expanded to the entire Northern Virginia region. It's perfectly acceptable for us to tell people what they should be allowing in their back yards, because we're not racist and exclusionary and they are.

Not a stakeholder? No problem.

You might think people that live right next to new developments that are most impacted should have more say. That families that have invested in their homes and neighborhoods over decades might have a very strong interest in how they develop. But that's wrong. It is your right as a YIMBY to tell them how you think they should feel.

It's for Diversity.

We need zoning reform to fix the diversity problem. Sure, most places are more diverse than any point in history, but they aren't diverse in the way that we think they are supposed to be. And we should know, because YIMBY of NoVA is only 95% white young males.

Make it affordable, for us.

We deserve to live where we want to live. But sometimes we can't, because nicer areas and nicer homes cost more. It's not fair to force people to live in the places they can afford. It doesn't matter that up-zoning stats show negligible impact on affordability; the developers and county that stand to make a windfall tell us we need it.
